Pet Surgery in Schertz: Veterinarians Operate On Patient

Safety First

Before, during, and after every surgery, we make your pet’s safety and comfort our priority. Our dedicated surgical technicians and veterinarians are constantly monitoring your pet to ensure they remain stable from the start of anesthesia until they wake up in recovery. In addition, we take several precautions to minimize risks including:

  • Pre-anesthetic blood work to check the health of their kidneys and liver which play an important role in metabolizing the anesthesia
  • An IV catheter to supply your pet with fluids that help them stay hydrated and moderate their blood pressure
  • Advanced monitoring equipment to track their vitals including heart rate and rhythm, blood-oxygen levels, respiration rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and more
  • Pain medication administered before, during, and after the procedure to ensure they wake with minimal discomfort

Procedures We Perform

Whether your pet needs a routine spay/neuter surgery or a fracture repair, we have the technology and the experience to accommodate you. For more complex orthopedic surgeries such as cranial cruciate ligament repairs and hip dysplasia procedures, we work with surgical specialists who visit our hospital so your pet gets specialty care without going anywhere else.

Common surgeries we perform:

  • Spays and neuters – neuters done by laser
  • Declaws – by laser
  • Growth/tumor removal
  • Foreign body removal
  • Ear hematomas
  • Wound repair
  • Fracture repair
  • Biopsies
  • Entropion repair (and other basic eye surgeries)
  • C-sections

Our veterinarians can use a laser for some soft tissue procedures, which helps reduce bleeding, inflammation, and lowers the risk of infection. Additionally, your pet will benefit from a faster recovery.

When it’s time for them to go home, we’ll send detailed recovery instructions so you can help them heal faster and get back to doing what they love! We’ll also send appropriate pain medications home to help keep them comfortable.
